Microsoft wanted to make better use of its abundant but scattered and underutilized business intelligence (BI) applications and data sources. Produxs fashioned a comprehensive solution that provides a 360-degree view of accounts, drawing from more than 30 previously disconnected sources.

the challenge
Microsoft had 37 disparate BI applications and no way to easily make sense of all of the data. The company wanted to fix that problem and create a new 360-degree holistic view of accounts, something it had never had before.
the assignment
Microsoft came to Produxs and asked us to create an end-to-end solution that would enable the field marketing/sales organizations to grow their existing account by get a true picture of the available whitespace. The solution needed to give these organizations the up-to-the-minute information they needed to capitalize on the growth potential in their existing accounts.
the research
We started by interviewing Enterprise Partner Group ( EPG) staff to understand what they needed to be successful. Armed with that data, we held several working sessions with Todd Wells (GM of the Global Marketing Operations) and Jamie Walker (GM of EPG) to define the applications requirements and potential roadmap.
the solution
We designed a modular scalable solution that enabled us to tailor the experience based on available account data. The modular approach was key to expanding the solution to multiple audiences. Expanding on Todd Wells’ vision, we created an “Apps Wheels” view of products to quickly show untapped sales opportunities within an account.
the results
Microsoft’s field marketing and sales organizations can now pull easily view data from over 30 BI applications to get a 360-degree view of their accounts in one central location. The framework was also leveraged as the audience grew from the EPG staff to a global audience. We also successfully bridged the “Now what do I do with this data?” hurdle by introducing the “Apps Wheels,” which were integrated with customer conversation data and providing seamless visibility into disparate data.
